Mid Ghana Conference

The Mid Ghana Conference is one of the annual conferences under the Western West Africa Episcopal District (WWAED) of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. It functions as a central administrative and spiritual body that coordinates the work of the Church within its assigned jurisdiction in Ghana. Alongside the East, West, and North Ghana Conferences, the Mid Ghana Conference supports the connectional mission of the A.M.E. Zion Church through structured leadership, evangelism, and service.

Coverage Area and Regions

The Mid Ghana Conference serves the central corridor of Ghana, with its churches spread across parts of the Ashanti Region, Bono East Region, and adjoining areas of the Central Region. This coverage includes both major towns and rural communities, enabling the Conference to minister within diverse social and cultural contexts. Its geographic position allows it to bridge ministry efforts between southern and northern Ghana, strengthening unity within the wider District.

Mission and Core Focus

In alignment with the mission of the A.M.E. Zion Church, the Mid Ghana Conference is committed to evangelism, discipleship, Christian education, and social transformation. The Conference emphasizes the preaching of the Gospel, spiritual formation of members, leadership development, and the promotion of moral and ethical values rooted in Christian teachings.

Governance and Leadership Structure

The Conference operates through a well-defined governance structure that includes districts overseen by Presiding Elders and local churches led by pastors. Conference officers and departmental leaders support administration, pastoral supervision, and program implementation. This structure ensures accountability, consistency, and effective communication between the Conference, districts, and local congregations.

Departments, Societies, and Ministries

Key departments and societies within the Mid Ghana Conference include the Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society (W.H.&O.M.S.), youth and young adult ministries, Christian education, missions, and evangelism units. Community Impact and Social Outreach

Reflecting the historic emphasis of the A.M.E. Zion Church on holistic ministry, the Mid Ghana Conference actively engages in community development and social outreach. Through education support, welfare initiatives, and community-based programs, the Conference seeks to address social needs while demonstrating Christian compassion and service.
